Suburbia, or, the Home Abstracted (2011)
Unfamiliar environments are often stimulating, provoking curiosity and inspection, while spaces to which we are highly accustomed become almost obscured by our comfort with them. With this in mind I embarked on a photographic examination of my most familiar spaces - mostly, my own home. Using nineteenth century and experimental methods of printing abstracted the images somewhat, redefining the mundane as delicate and painterly.
This series was exhibited as part of Historical Radicalism at the Leamington Arts Centre in Ontario, Canada in 2011.
